ASAP have recently supplied a new wrap for the Parkgate Shopping Centre FreeBee bus. The service was reopened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Rotherham on Monday morning.

This popular free bus service was under threat of being discontinued, but thanks to a two year investment from Parkgate owners, Hercules Unit Trust, the bus will continue to connect Rotherham Town Centre with Parkgate Shopping.

The announced funding – £236,000 over two years – has ended speculation about the future of the route. Following Government cuts to the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive budget and with the opening of the Tram-Train service between Sheffield and Parkgate in 2016, the service was in jeopardy.

Pauline Thursby, a resident of Whiston, Rotherham and frequent FreeBee passenger said, “I was really pleased to have been selected to officially hand the keys over to start the new service. I and many other local people are absolutely delighted that it is to continue into the future and make our lives much easier and more convenient.“

The bus wrap was installed by ASAP combining an Avery wrapping system and Contra Vision film on the bus’ glass. Our client wanted a complete wrap to advertise their dedicated free bus service to and from the shopping centre. The wrap was installed at the bus operators’ workshop in Rotherham. ASAP had to work to a very tight time schedule; we received the artwork on Tuesday and had just 3 days to prepare and produce the graphics. The graphics were then installed over Saturday and Sunday, with installation completed ready for the launch on Monday morning.
